Motorcyclist killed in I-75 crash with semi in Dayton ID’d

The motorcyclist killed Friday morning in a crash with a semi truck on Interstate 75 in Dayton has been identified.

The victim is Stephen Downey, 42, of Miamisburg, according to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office.

The collision was reported at 6:50 a.m. at I-75 South at Stanley Avenue.

A portion of the highway was closed for more than five hours following the deadly crash.

“I-75 Southbound is CLOSED right now due to a fatal crash involving a semi & a motorcycle,” the Dayton Police Department tweeted Friday morning. “Our Traffic Services Unit is on scene to conduct the investigation. Please avoid the area & take surface streets.”

The highway was closed Stanley Avenue and Riverside Drive for hours as crews investigated the crash and cleared the scene.

Just before 2 p.m., Dayton police tweeted that I-75 had reopened.
